9-4-2012: a song i submitted for the 13th mcrp compilation is now available as a downloadable single: shifting sands. song creation/process notes/pictures are available here.
7-22-2012: with the completion of my year-long creative one-a-day, i've released an album: distance. (later reviewed at a closer listen.)

3-20-2012: new album, waveforms, now available. four tracks + bonus track + wallpaper.
10-06-2011: new poem, hyperfine.
7-25-2011: new music. free download. solo piano improvisation: sun bubbles by ioflow.
7-06-2011: Been makin' music, videos, and other collaborations with cool folks. One of these days I'll attend to the stack of written words lying around and actually put 'em up. In the meantime, I hope you enjoy the continued stream of sonic/visual treats.
3-21-2011: I've finally started creating my own music, available at SoundCloud. The link is over here. I've always wanted to make electronic music, and what's available now are my first steps on this journey.
10-05-2010: Lately I've been putting my creative energies into writing music reviews. I'm very passionate about music. Writing about it is one way I can get others to listen to the same emotional, evocative, heart-touching music I love; music I believe everyone needs to hear. Most of what I listen to can be freely downloaded, made available by artists who believe good music should be shared. The reviews are starting to find their way into netlabels such as Soft Phase, and into the inboxes of the composers, who should know that their art makes a difference; that it doesn't just disappear into the void. Everyone needs to hear good music, so I encourage you to go explore the soundscapes, and find your own sonic bliss. Start with a review and see what you like. Be sure to send your thoughts to the artist.
08-30-2010: More links to some good tunes. Another poem is in the works. There may even be a short story if I can find the time for it.
04-07-2010: Poem added, just a few months later than planned. Cleaned up the links page, too.
10-29-2009: Cleaned up links page. A new poem will be available soonish.
12-12-2008: New poem available.
5-04-2008: Relaunched with a new address. And a new name. New look, new content, new code. You name it; it's probably new. The main site should meet accessibility standards, so the plain HTML accessible version has been removed.
5-23-2007: Back in action. Lots of links added. Lots of internal cleanups too, including removal of one of the stylesheets since it's never been popular.
12-13-2006: On with the holidays!
9-28-2006: So. Happy birthday to me? More poetry is on the way, at long last.
12-18-2005: At last, the business has quieted down for the foreseeable future. This means I'll have more time available for this site. As it is, I've added a few links and cleaned up the CSS. Now, if you're using any browser other than IE6, viewing long poems or stories should be much better, as the links will not scroll out of sight. All I did was change the link box positioning from "absolute" to "fixed". So the links to the next story or poem will stay put as you read. Also, I'm preparing to make other minor changes to the CSS, after several months of testing and experimenting. They should make code maintenance and addition much easier.
12-16-2005: Oy. Yes, I'm busy. There's another poem waiting in the wings. As well as (gasp) more chapters of "Work in Progress." Business prevents me from taking care of everything as soon as I would have liked, sadly.
10-19-2005: A new poem, "one day/une heure", is up on the Words page and the Accessible page. It's an older poem that I just rediscovered. Having verified my translations--which were written without a French-English dictionary--I decided it was ready for posting . . . about 7 months after it was written. Oops. Shouldn't lose track of poems that way. But at least the poem needed no translation changes.
10-5-2005: After an even longer time away, I've returned to revamp the site's code. Now certain pages should load faster. For example, I reduced the page size of "Words" from 41kb to 23kb, thanks to an improved bit of JavaScript I cooked up. It is much more streamlined than the old visibility trick, yet it still runs just as quickly. Now to begin adding more poems and chapters once again.
7-29-2005: The hiatus was shorter than I thought it would be. At long last, chapter three of "Work in Progress" is up. Maybe I'll even get chapter four posted in a week or two. Note to the reader: "Work in Progress" is not a linear story. It is told synthetically. The chapters are deliberately out of joint; each chapter will not necessarily follow in chronological order. Please keep this in mind.
7-25-2005: I've been away for some time. Regrettably, "Work in Progress" must be placed on hiatus for a while; I don't know how long. However, I have written another poem. It's in the usual place. My apologies for neglecting the site for so long.
6-17-2005: Several links added to the Links page, and some minor restructuring throughout the site. More changes ahead.
6-14-2005: Just about recovered. But I still haven't put up the third chapter yet, which is only partially excusable. In the mean time, I put up a poem ("writer's prayer") on the Words page as a sort of peace offering. Work continues on the next chapter and the following chapters.
5-25-2005: Sorry, no chapter tomorrow. I'm recovering from some fairly major surgery. Hopefully I'll have chapter three up next Thursday.
5-18-2005: Chapter two of "Work in Progress" is now available. A day early, too. Future updates will most likely be posted on Thursdays or Wednesdays. As always, the chapters continue to be added to the Accessible page, so that those of you with nonstandard browsers or special needs can enjoy the story.
5-12-2005: Back with a pair of updates. At long last, I've posted the first chapter to a serial short story I've been writing. It's called "Work in Progress", and the link can be found on the left: W.I.P.. I aim for a semi-regular release schedule, hopefully a new chapter every two weeks or so. Maybe every week; that's doable enough early on. Hopefully the readership hasn't declined too much in my long absence. Keep checking back for updates, and feel free to spread the word or drop me a line. Complaints might give me additional incentive to write. Also, there's a few more links in the Links section. In other news, once Internet Explorer 7 is released, I'll be able to create a site design that is properly implemented across all browsers, most especially the one that has captured 80% of the browser market. IE7 comes out later this year, supposedly, but until then, if you want to view this website as it is intended to be--with full CSS compliance--I recommend you use Mozilla Firefox.
3-21-2005: I'm pleased to announce that a few of the works featured on this site have been published, netting me a small sum of money. "Midnight Angel," "Pages," "Whitewashed Rose," "Raven Parade," and "Moon and Fading Ice" have made it into a pair of books. Actually, the last poem was published last year; I'd forgotten about it.
3-1-2005: Right. So I meant to have an update in January to welcome in the new year, and then I meant to have it up in February...oops. Fear not, good readers, there shall be more updates. I've begun a short story that is told in short (of course) episodes. I plan to begin releasing them once I'm a few more chapters into it, so that I have a nice cushion for the self-imposed deadline I work under. Naturally, I won't be sharing the details of when my deadline is. Not even I know that. And another layout update is coming shortly, as I figured out a way to finally make the site work the way I've always wanted it too--and in Internet Explorer, no less. Firefox users will take the display trick for granted, of course. "position: fixed" declarations work perfectly well in almost any browser except IE. Accomplishing them is no small feat.
12-15-2004: Merry Christmas! The site is finally receiving needed accessibility changes; I've switched to using ems for font sizes instead of static pixel declarations. That should make IE6 users happier. Also, the nav menu has been revamped.
12-1-2004: All quiet on the western front . . . can't be helped, I'm afraid. As the holidays approach, though, I expect to finish a few more pieces.
11-10-2004: I've added a bit of progressive transcendental poetry to the Words page.
10-30-2004: I'm now looking for a decently affordable host. I've a few ideas, but mostly I'm looking for the cheapest domain registrations, preferably with registrars of good standing. On the wish list: trimmed-down JavaScript for the Words and Tides pages and workable relative fonts for the entire site--initially displaying in 11px (or so) verdana. Much searching of online resources has turned up nothing useful for either wish. I haven't given up yet, though.
10-27-2004: My host is currently redesigning the site interface controls, and is doing odd things to my links, most notably to this index page. Apologies if you have display problems; I'd suggest updating your bookmarks to http://www.freewebs.com/nightmorph/index.html
10-25-2004: I've launched an accessible version of this site. It has level-AAA conformance to the WCAG 1.0 Recommendation and complies with US Section 508. I'm still trying to make relative font sizes workable for the main site, so please be patient, IE users. For the discerning viewer, access keys and tooltips are now used throughout the regular and accessible sites.
10-24-2004: Back to the drawing board. I've "temporarily" restored font sizes to pixel units, as the display is just too erratic from browser to browser. Hopefully there are some tips on a working solution somewhere on the 'net. Apologies to viewers who want to control their text size in IE.
10-23-2004: I'm attempting to make this site meet the W3C's Web Content Accessibility Guidelines, and while it's a long process, I'm making some headway. Though all pages on this site use absolute fonts, I've added support for users whose browsers improperly implement resize options. Though Firefox and other browsers can manipulate pixel-sized fonts, now Internet Explorer users can scale up their font size, although the text is meant to be viewed at about 11px. This was accomplished by using a modified form of the relative size trick on DIA. Text-resizing is still somewhat buggy, as either FF or IE will display it correctly, but not both. In the future, I plan to include a completely accessible page of poetry and prose that meets all W3C and Section 508 guidelines.
10-17-2004: I've added another poem, "galatea revisited", to the Words page.
10-10-2004: I've added a stylesheet switcher to the left navigation panel. While it's a little twitchy in IE 6, I'm working on a fix. The new styles themselves are also undergoing change, so please bear with me until I've ironed out the quirks.
10-9-2004: This site is now updated to the XHTML 1.0 Strict specification, because it's just groovy.
10-4-2004: Another poem added to the Words page.
10-3-2004: the deep end version two launched.
10-2-2004: Words and Tides pages are working.
9-29-2004: Site is nearing completion. CSS and HTML validated.
9-28-2004: Happy birthday to me. Imported elements for layout.
9-24-2004: Layout modifications in progress.
9-21-2004: Apologies for the delay. Though I have continued to write, this site has not reflected that until now. See the Words page for the poem.
6-20-2004: After a long absence, I've returned to add a story I wrote a few months ago, "Someday", to the Tides page.
4-12-2004: I've added another story, "If Only", to the Tides section.
4-6-2004: I've added another poem, "Moon and Fading Ice", to the Words page. Though originally composed in October, it was recently published in a literary magazine, and I thought I would share it with you, dear reader, free of charge, as I still retain the copyright.
3-28-2004: I've added a place for my stories, Tides, and a composition from January, "Pages".
3-22-2004: I've finished revising a slightly older poem, "Raven Parade", and placed it on the Words page.
3-16-2004: There are two more links in the Links section for your sonic and visual enjoyment.
3-3-2004: I've added another poem, "Rain on Glass", to the Words page.
2-28-2004: I've added another poem, "Knots", to the Words section.
2-26-2004: I've placed all poetry on just one page, Words. Just trimming things down. More changes ahead later.
2-16-2004: Sorry for the lack of updates. I've been a bit less busy writing, but I have added another poem, "Twilight in Silk", to the Words section.
1-16-2004: I've added another poem I composed over vacation, "Forever Sojourn", to the Words page.
1-8-2004: I've added a slightly darker poem I wrote in early December, "Strains", to the Words section.
1-2-2004: Happy New Year! It's been awhile since the last update, but I remained busy writing over vacation, and added one of the poems I composed ("Aura Darkness") to the Words section.
12-16-2003: I've added another link to the Links section. Also, there's another poem, "Whitewashed Rose" in the Words section.
12-14-2003: I've added another link to the Links section.
12-13-2003: I've added another poem, "Gentle Rain", to the Words section.
12-12-2003: I've added another poem, "Dark Night", to the Words section. Also, I've removed the chat room, as I don't see much of a need for it at present, since it can only accomodate 4 users, and there aren't that many people browsing the site at the same time.
12-11-2003: I've added two poems to the Words section, "Nearly Distant" and "Midnight Angel." Freewebs won't let me add more than 7 paragraphs to a section, I'm going to have to condense things until I can learn enough html and Dreamweaver to switch to the advanced-build mode for fine control over my site. I'd really like all my poetry to be on only one page, so we'll see how that goes.
12-10-2003: I've added a chat room so that you can communicate with the rest of the multitudes exploring the site. Also, there are nine new destinations for you to explore in the Links section.
12-9-2003: I've added three more poems, "Liquid Rays", "Death #2", and "Deeper" to the Words section.
12-8-2003: I've added another poem, "Surrender from Myself", to the Words section.
10-2003: Welcome to my vast dominion. This just might be my own new home and/or link collection, so don't be suprised by what you might find or not find. There's a lot of junk in the corners that needs to be arranged, shall we say.
Old items from the front page.
